COACHING 2012   COACHING APPLICATION

Mission Statement

Coaching is a tremendous responsibility and commitment that can be very rewarding. It is by no means an easy job to do simply because you have to wear many hats and have several responsibilities toward your team and the league throughout the season. Coaches will be responsible for attending all mandatory meetings, assuring the concession stand schedule is followed, fundraiser's are completed (including decorating Main Street in November), and maintaining a good example for their players to follow.

Often as coaches, we tend to measure the success of our season by the won / loss record. We get so focused on winning to obtain the prize awaiting for us at the end of the season, we forget about what is really important, the kids. The Kids are the ultimate reason and our purpose for being on the field. To teach them the fundamentals of playing the game of baseball and help them to develop skills so they have an enjoyable experience. To teach them good sportsmanship and have respect for their team, the opposing team, all coaches, and umpires. We need to establish simple, achievable goals for ourselves and our players. If a player can’t catch a ball at the beginning of the season, can they catch it at the end? At the end of the season, when we look back to measure the success, we should ask ourselves two simple questions. What did my team learn? Did all players improve from the beginning of the season?

Every Year, the Pee Wee Baseball organization is looking for coaches. We are looking for people that are energetic, enjoy working with kids, and can teach the fundamentals of baseball. If you are interested in coaching, please complete the application below.

Thank You,
Alan West
President
