Major Division (Ages 10, 11, and 12). This is a very competitive division; however an emphasis is continued toward team play and good sportsmanship. More advanced skills, fundamentals, mechanics, and techniques are developed, as well as, an understanding of baseball philosophies and strategies. All 11 and 12 year old players along with approximately half the 10 year old players play in this division. IT IS MANDATORY for ALL 10, 11, and 12 year old players to attend the scheduled Skills Evaluation Session. (Exceptions ; a player or players that currently have a sibling or siblings playing on a Major team, a Head Coaches child, or returning players previously on a Major team, DO NOT have to attend the the Skills Evaluation Session). For league age purposes, the player’s age on April 30th is their playing age. The Skills Evaluation Night will be conducted in March, check significant dates for detailed information. It is important for all players to understand, during the Evaluation session, they need to demonstrate their abilities with basic fundamentals, mechanics, and techniques. Each coach evaluating players may look at players for different skills and abilities. Those players not drafted and remaining in the Minors may have the athletic ability to play in the Majors and may be picked before the Minor practices begin to complete team rosters.. In order for players to advance their abilities, they are encouraged to attend the evaluation session. Any player that will benefit more by remaining in the Minors may not be drafted onto a Major team. A player who is evaluated and is drafted will not returned to the Minors unless the Board, Coach, and Parents agree. Players who do not attend the Evaluations will randomly be placed on a Major team through a "hat pick" process and may be reassigned to a Minor team after a Coaches evaluation of the player. Any reassignment will occur before the Minor team practices begin, to minimize A 10 year old who played in the Minors last year and has a sibling playing in the Majors or a Coaches child will automatically be placed on the same team , unless the player or parents request that they go into the draft. Please let us know before the evaluations if you are waiving the "brother / sister rule". The player must then participate in the evaluations. A player that played on a Major team the prior year may participate in the draft with the Boards prior approval. This is a rare occasion and may only be done for very specific reasons upon conclusion of conversations with parents, coaches', and Board members. League play begins in May with two and possibly three games played per week throughout the season. All games will be played at the John R. Harp Baseball Complex. Upon completion of the regular season, a post season tournament will begin in June.
Baseball Instruction. We maintain a collection of instructional videos at the Flathead County Library, which may be checked out. Please take advantage of these instructional materials – they’re beneficial for players, parents, and coaches. When questions arise, please contact league officials or ask your coach. We expect all coaches, parents, fans and umpires to be positive role models around the ball fields. Please provide positive encouragement and leave criticism and negative attitudes behind. Thank you for participating in our baseball program. Working together, we can provide an enjoyable summer for all of our ball players.
